Default What Carb is this?

This carb came off of 67. It is an Autolite of some sort.

I want to pick up the rebuild kit and see if I can rebuild it.

1. Which kit do I need.
I see in NPD they have
-170, 200 for Ford 1v
- Ford 2v model 2100
- Ford 4v model 4100
- Ford 4v Model 4300d

I suspect it is one of these (says autolite on the side but I am told they often have "tag" which says exactly what model it is but this one is missing it).

2. when I get the rebuild kit. how should I proceed? I figure I will document with pics and save all the parts. take it apart and clean everything and replace all the parts from the kit and put back together. I still need to get the shop manual but I am wondering do I need that for this? Is there any procedure I need to do beside taking it apart, replace parts and clean?

Below are the pics. The brown stuff is acorns, acorn dust and other debris. It looks worse in these pics to me than it really is. The things seems solid to me.

Thanks

it's 4barrel, so can't be 1100, 2100
from the way that thing looks i'd say it's an autolite 4300. not the best of all autolite carbs I heard.

Thanks.

I think you are correct on the 4300.
I did a quick image search and I see this

Which looks pretty much the same.

So looks like NPD 9A586-14 is what I need.

Looking at the blow up this thing is intimidating. Looks like about 100 parts.

Wow, what a mess. Make sure you pull it ALL THE WAY down. Remove all the shafts as well and inspect/fix them, replace bushings etc. There's a lot of rust and debris on that sucker.

it's not that bad. it's really two carbs in one body. just take your time and keep everything organized. i like to work on a fairly big area lined with paper towels so i can see the little parts and they're not as likely to roll away. be sure to get a baby food lid or something like that to hold the little pieces that like to roll away (springs, needles, check *****). avoid using compressed air until you're 100% sure you've removed everything.

before removing the needles, turn them in until they GENTLY bottom out and record how many turns it took (down to the 1/8th turn) so you'll have a baseline for putting it back together.

and be 100% sure that you do not crank the needles down hard. that's a great way to ruin a carb.

Unless you have to do a concours resto, or you can't afford $350 on a new carb,
I strongly recommend a new Edelbrock.
The Autolite 4300 I had professionally rebuilt, leaked again in 6 months and never ran as good as the new Edelbrock.

Looks like Rocket J Squirrel has been storing his stuff on it. It's not a hot performance carb, but decent street driving and economy on a stock engine. Be careful with that choke cap, it's friggin' hard to get.

When done, it looks like this:

It Is more than likely a autolite 4100 480 CFM I would go with that , a 4300 would be on a big block and 4100 would be on the 289"s
