Default Brake help

i have a 13 inch cobra front brake kit on my 65 coupe (z bar clutch, orginal drum/drum car) and i have a VERY VERY hard pedal. leads me to think the bore size is incorrect for the braking system. the mc/booster setup is factory to a disc/drum car. could i get this unit from wilwood with a better matched bore size?
http://www.wilwood.com/PDF/DataSheets/ds202.pdf

it will fit in the opening and multiple bore sizes to pick from. i need to take mine off and measure what size i have now.

First see if you can lock up the front brakes. Take it out for a drive and try some hard stops from around 30 mph. If you can lock the brakes, preferably fronts first, followed by rears, then your MC is properly sized for you. If you cannot lock the brakes, you need a smaller bore MC.

Did you change out the manual brake pedal for a PB ratio pedal or have the MS pin welded in to change the ratio?

This shows the difference in the pedals:

The pushrod pin was the least of it. The power brake pedal attached to the top of the pedal bracket, not the clutch shaft.

The 65 66 Mustang pedal will have nothing to do with it. They are all same, Disc vs Drum.

Folks get the 67-70 Pedals changes mixed up with the 65 66. On the 67-70, there are two different pedals with different attachment points on the support for leverage purposes (As stated, the Power Disc is longer and mounts higher on the support, than the Drum brake, non power)

The pin that the master/booster attaches too is 1/2" different from the 67-69 Power Disc pedal vs the 70 pedal, but has little bearing on leverage provided by the pedal.

So back to your problem, The larger the bore in the master is the wrong way to go. Bigger is not better. A small bore master will develop more pressure than a larger bore. So analyze what you have, then "Hot Rod" it, you'll get results.

took everything apart and this is what i found.

first of all i have a 1 inch bore, from what i could measure.

second, the little rod that is attached to the booster that actually goes up inside the master cylinder bore was NOT touching the end where it gets pushed. i had about 1/8 inch of travel before the pedal would actually push the bore of the master. (hope that makes sense). the rod on the booster WAS adjustable and i made it have just a fraction oif an inch before it made contact, so i didnt have constant pressure.
