Thumbs up Finally got back to it

I haven't been around much for the last 7-8 months, job market (or lack thereof) had me pretty down. Haven't worked on the 'Stang either ....

But, I finally finished the majority of my wiring and fired the beast up. Open headers during a cam break-in didn't go over too well with my elderly neighbor .....

I've run it through all the gears (with the rearend on jackstands) and all is well, no strange noises. I was concerned that I would have to have my driveshaft shortened after the T-5 conversion, but all is well there too. Got everything in the rear tightened, I'll do the front tomorrow and reset the toe, the springs have settled knocking it out. Also gotta get my wife to help me bleed the brakes (that'll be fun, "pump", "what?", "pump it", "huh?")

Do you think I'd get in much trouble for running it around the neighborhood with no license, no inspection, no insurance, no fenders or hood, no glass, etc.?

Anyway, just wanted to share.

Have you put it through some heat cycles yet? If you just cruise around the neighborhood you should be fine. especially in texas. I was pulled over a few times here in California while building mine. I told the officers exactly what I was doing. No tickets

Did you really just say that? I dont care if you have no inspection, fenders, hood, glass or license plates, seats, whatever, but no insurance?! Good luck with that.

Get some insurance and make the vehicle street legal before you do any testing, please. Although driving without the car being legal might be better than running it through the gears on jackstands..

Sorry but I was laughing my butt off reading that....only way it could have gone better is if you decided to do the break in at say 1 a.m.

Man, I have missed a lot not being on-line ....

The question about driving it was actually rhetorical, I'm going to do it anyway. But, I love the screenname 5Oclocksomewhere, wish I'd have thought of it.

The fire up was at 5 PM, but I did start it in the garage at about 11:30 one night, just for a couple of minutes.

Any pics? Sorry I must have missed your build. Don't kill anyone taking it down the road! Sorry it's the insurance agent in me

I haven't put up any pix, I should probably do that. I'll try to do that soon. Most of my posts have either been to ask or to answer a question. She's not much to look at now ..... but sure sounds good.

Oh, and I'll be super careful. My neighborhood is very quiet (except when I fire it up) and I'll have my wife run the neighborhood first to make sure there are no police around. I just fear that if I don't actually drive it, it'll sit for another 6 months without any attention.

Well, yesterday I did it. Had my wife help me bleed the brakes, which actually went pretty smoothly. Then she drove the neighborhood, looking out for police or any children playing outside. When she gave me the thumbs up, I headed down the road. It was only a short drive, less than a mile, but what a hoot! Saw 2 guys driving down the road in the opposite direction and got big thumbs ups and smiles from them. When I got back to my street, I just had to do a short burnout. It was only a one-wheel-peel, but I'll get better gears and limited slip (had to resist the urge to call it a posi) before she's done.

Anyway, just wanted to share.
