Mr. Velocity > What do you plan on doing with the car? I had Coilovers on my 2000 gt and they were the biggest pain and waste of money I have ever spent. After I sold the car to a friend, we swapped the suspension for a Roush Suspension and the car handled like a true dream. Why not go with 620 springs in the front and drop leafs in the back? Plus, with coilovers, you just can't take the car anywhere to get the alignment done.

You say that you have $15k for a resto. In your words, what does "resto" mean. I just did a minor "resto" on my car and dropped $8k just in the engine and T-5 conversion. I would have rather spent the majority of that money on body work and paint.

Also, You say that you want disc breaks. What Size? Have you taken into consideration that a lot of disc breaks need rims that will clear them? This could easily add another $ 1k to the cost.

Resto is just touching up a few paint chips, no? Here is the thread on my car, I think this qualifies as a resto. https://mustangforums.com/forum/clas...-redstang.html

The car is a daily driver which may or may not see the track. I want the car to be the best it can, be reliable (not working on it every weekend) without going totally crazy on spend (relative I know).

The start of this thread was about "improving" the stock suspension costing as much as the R&C coil over kit. If I didn't do the R&C the car would have had a full roller setup from Opentracker or the Stage5 kit from StreetorTrack. Either way I was going to be spending a few $$ in the suspension. After much searching including the positive feedback from NoReins I decided on the coil over. If it sucks, I'll do something different on the next car. I see more than one in our future, although the next one will be a vert.

I was looking at the streetortrack stage5 kit with Blisteins, was also looking at full roller (uca, lca etc) opentracker with Blisteins. When I got done pricing it with the steering and brakes the price was about equal to the coil over from R&C like NoReins did. Actually it was more if I went power r&p. I wasn't expecting this so I went ahead and did all the body work and paint. Now that I see the cost is the same I'm going to have to protect a lot of new paint to work on the suspension, if I go the coil over route. Bad planning I may or may not do the rear, we'll see when I get to that point.

I'm not looking for the cheapest kit nor am I looking to spend without reason. I'm really just looking for an opinion on something like streetortrack stage 5 vs a coil over setup like NoReins is doing. Either one of those 2 setups will be in the car before the end of the year, just a matter of which one.
If this is the case, then I would look hard at what Gateway Classic Mustang installed in the their 1968? mustang that was entered in to last years hot rod/street car of the year challenge. That car rocked. It came in the top 10 against some very high end builds. It's a kick *** car.
