Default How Bad is This?

I snapped some pics of the rust issues on my "future" car and was wondering how bad this is?

How would you suggest fixing it? I am not a welder but have someone I have used before but would like to sound somewhat intelligent.

The car cannot be safely driven in that condition. Professional MIG welding is required, and experience with Mustang repairs, or a whale of a lot of study will be required.

Lower shock towers right. You have a pic of it through the wheel well right below the upper control arm. It doesn't look too bad if the frame is good could probably put a brace kit in they make or did make patch for lower shock towers. What is the car i mean if its a cheap easy to find car people might be right be easer to just sell and get another.

I haven't been following all his threads, how much is the car? If you get a good deal on it why not buy it? Its just something else to factor into the cost of the resto in order to weigh the pros and cons. Considering he has threads on buying/building a rotis it seems he wants to take the car all the way down anyway.

Definitely new towers are in order or at least patches. It can be fixed, but if you have to pay someone to do it, you'll be paying a lot. If you can do the work yourself, then it may be worth it. It's comes down to how bad do you want this car. It's hard to say if it's worth it not seeing the car, no other info on the car-price, style, etc., and other rust issues the car may have. This rust area is a common area to fix, along with 90% of the car being other common rust areas.

The reason why you shouldn't buy it is that is the rust you can see. Sometimes the rust you can't see can be much greater. Unlesss the car was dirt cheap and the guy didn't mind replacing both towers and the front subframe rails than I would search for a better car.

Now if it came with a Hipo motor, 9" rear and a 4 speed then it would be worth looking at. But we don't know much more about the car.

Thanks for all the input. This is a close family member’s car and by the time I get it down here and what I "thought" I would give them for it I would have close to $3k in it.

Its a 69 fastback, 2v 302, nothing special but I grew up in this car as a teenager and it got me into old cars....more pics here.

I poked all around under the car to check the floor pans and surprisingly didnt see any issues. I looked through the hood valance/grill the best I could to see if there were any issues on the fire wall. There is some rust at the rear quarter, inside fenders.

Car is complete, been parked in a garage for last 10 years. Ran when parked. Bought new in 69.

My thought was to get it running and drive it for a couple of years then MAYBE start a rotis or at least a re-paint. I knew this was an issue but wasn’t sure how bad. I know that if I did a rotis on the car I would have way more into it than what its worth but this shock tower issue concerns me. Let me know everyone’s thoughts.

Rust is something that gets worse with age. If you have an emotional investment in the car then save it now before it gets worse.
