*help* bellhousing
I have a '67 with a '73 302. I am replacing the c-4 with a toploader t-10. The problem I have is that my t-10 has the small bolt pattern. I have read before that a 300 straight 6 has the same block pattern as a 302 and might bolt up to my small tranny pattern also. Is this true??
I also realize that I could swap the guts to a case with the big pattern, but the less I have to rip into the tranny the better.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Well, color me confused. The Ford Design "Toploader" and the Borg-Warner T10 are completely different transmissions. The 67-73 200 and 250 3-speeds have the same pattern as the smallblock V8 3-speed and 4-speed. Very early V8 4-speeds had a narrow rectangular pattern, by 65 it was a wider "hourglass" pattern to reduce vibration.
That's also what I was thinking, but the person I got it from seemed positive it was a Borg Warner Toploader. I don't have the code handy but I believe there was a date stamp of 7-?-63 (assuming july of 1963) which would make it before the toploaders days correct? It is also stamped t-10 in a few others codes on the case and tail.

The easiest way to over come the problem is to drill and tap a bellhousing to accept the narrow pattern. Before doing any of that I would ID the trans and make sure the shifter location will work for your application. Take a pic and post it and you will get some help on here.
