Default Underhood finishing

I want to finish the underside of my hood. When I had the car painted, all that was done was a coat of primer and paint was shot, nothing to smooth out the underside. It is a fiberglass hood and the underside is pretty rough. I'm not looking for a glass or mirror smooth finish, but something better than the fiberglass look. I'm open to any suggestions.

DA sanding and some high-build primer ought to do it.

i suggest masking the under side of the hood nice and spraying it with undercoating...it will look really nice and you wont be sanding for weeks trying to get the grain out of the under side of the hood

I definitely want an easy approach. I thought about undercoating but what kind? Rubberized, bedliner stuff, etc. How do you all think this would look?

some of the rubberized rattle can stuff...you dont need bed liner we would do this on cars all the time at work to make them look better

Mine is the same way. I wish I had told my paint guy to spray the underside of the hood the same color of the car so it woul look much better than the flat black color it currently is. IF i was going to do it, I would have the underside sprayed. With your car being black I think that would work out great for you.

Seriously? Undercoating the underside of the hood?

And you, with the flat black underside, you too.

Sand it smooth, paint it body color. Might take a whole Saturday. Afterward, onlookers will go "Ohh, ahh".

How as this held up? This is probably what I'm going to do next spring.
