Emblems with magnet option
First of all...Happy Holidays, fellow Stang Heads!
Ok, my car is being prepped for paint...but I instructed the master painter to cover the holes of the emblems...I want a straight no emblem look...for now.
The reason, I wouldn't mind adding GT emblems...but I don't want to drill holes.
You see, I have cloned my 64/65 to look like a GT...rear valance dual exhausts, fog lights, and many GT trimmings inside (glove box, steering wheel, etc...).
However, if someday in the long future...decide for some reason to sell my ride (I hope never)...I want the new owner to have an option of changing emblems at will.
I want to fit my ride with GT emblems...but if the new owner decides to keep it original...he/she would have the option to place regular Pony emblems to the car.
I of course would no way shape or form, would try to fool someone in thinking my ride is a real GT, because it's not...it's just a regular 289 D Code coupe.
So that's why.
So any suggestions?
Thanks guys and gals!

I don't like letters.
I want either just the Pony emblem or the GT.

That might do for now...but for the life of me...I can't find GT ones.
I also found this cool Cobra stick on...

I did this same thing on my Grand National. I used the factory chrome badges/lettering, snipped off any pegs, or post. I picked up magnetic sheets (approx 5"x8") from a craft store like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc. These have an adhesive side to stick the emblems to and then a magnetic side to stick to the vehicle. I placed the emblems on the adhesive side and used a hobby knife to trim the excess magnetic backing away. This left an emblem that I could stick to the car during shows, and pull off for a more aggressive street look.
Hope this helps

Awesome...thank you so much...exactly what I was looking for...YES!!!
If you put it on over dirt/dust/grime it can scratch into the paint. If the car and the magnet are both clean and free of dirt, you should be okay. Though over time it might end up leaving a 'shadow' if the paint fades around it.
FYI, if you go the magnetic route, be aware that they may be blown off through carwashes. I have magnetic stickers on my Jeep and have knocked them clean off at the coin-op carwashes. You may wish to consider using the approach listed above, snip off the pegs but using doublesided tape like they do on modern car emblems. I used to have some, made by 3M, I believe.
Good luck!
