1966 mustang headlight
it does matter alright, however I have no idea which one is wich. can't you compare it to the other side?
if not you can find out with an ohm meter and testing. measure resistance between the prongs (try all three combination). Only one combination will give you infinite resistance if the bulb is good. this will only happen when you measure from high beam to low beam, which means the one you are not testing is ground.
Then just put 12V on one socket and minus on the ground socket and see what lights up (high or low).
I haven't checked on the following, but that should work:

(common in this chart being ground). H4 and sealed beams have the same pin layout since I converted without having to change anything
