Default Ignition Switch

What is the difference between the 3 prong and 4 prong ignition switch? What I mean is this...what is the fourth prong for?

Um, Huh? What year? Ignition switches are:

• 64-66
• 67
• 68-69
• 70
• 71-73

There were no optional choices.
