help: vibrating steering wheel
I'm tryin to figure out why my steering wheel get a bad vibration at higher speeds. I don't really feel it on street but I really feel it on the freeway. I have TCP rack and opinion manual steering. Cars is aligned to specs with shelby drop. TCP uca&lca. I inspected all bushings and everything looks fine. Any ideas?
Check to see if your front wheels are balanced and then maybe change out your wheel bearings. Also if your front end has lube points, squirt some grease in there, check the rubber boots as well while your there.
Jack up the front end and spin your wheels with a ruler on the ground or something to see if they wheels wobble.
Make sure that all of your lug nuts are tight as well.

Mild vibration can be from flat spots if car sat too long. This condition will clear after awhile.
Mild vibs can be caused by uneven thread wear due to tire abuse, skidding or insufficient rotation schedule. This condition will not improve until tires replaced.
Vibration can be caused after slinging off balance weight or poor balance job.
Good to double check front bearing preload and lug nut torque.
Vibration can occur if tread is separating. Tread separation more likely on cheap tires, old tires, and cross rotated steel belted tires.

Yeah, on my classic I had a vibration at about 65 mph but no other time. I work at a tire shop so I balanced them myself and it really helps if there's weights on both the outside lips. Some people like to use the stick-on weights that don't clip to the outer and possibly chrome part of the wheel but it sometimes doesn't get a "perfect" balance. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the tip.
