Default Four+Mufflers?

I have tossed this idea around in my head for awhile now, but I am curious to see what you guys think. Headers to x pipe to glasspacks to magnaflows (or dynomaxes). I can't seem to find any videos of people with similar setups, and I imagine it would create a unique sound. Thoughts?

Some people will say its a waste of time and money, I knew that before I started this thread. Just curious about the actual sound the car might make.

If anything, I'd do it the other way around; mufflers, then small glasspacks (aka resonators). Even then, I don't think you'd need the downstream resonators with the x-pipe. An h-pipe would be different. The downstream resonators will help even out the sound signature.

I did this on my 39, I started with long stainless glasspacks, but the car was too damn loud so I added a pair of small Magnaflow glasspacks at the rear of the car.

It actually sounds pretty (really) good.

Similar to these, but 5" diameter.

Works both ways. 64 Mustangs with dual exhaust had H-pipe, resonators, then mufflers. 65-66 had H-pipe, mufflers, then resonators. For 67-69, it was back to H-pipe, resonators, then mufflers.

I had shorty JBA + 2 1/2" pipes + H pipe + Quicko muffler #1.

Too loud for me.

Switched to Quicko mufler #2.

A little loud but not bad.

Added resonator tips.

A little quite.

Drilled some resonator holes from about 1/4" to about 1/2"

I love it. Have two hot rod friends that bragged on the sound.

Ford and GM tried something like this in 69 on the Mach 1 and Z-28.
2 resonators then a muffler, It sounded ok. I took the muffler off.
BTW, H and X pipe do the same thing. Exhaust pulse.

Not exactly true. You get a different sound signature from an X-pipe. It balances out the highs and lows more effectively to create a more even tone.
