Default Rear trunk brace questions.

I am starting work on the back half of my 65 (rails, trunk, the usual) and I cant tell if the rear trunk rail was cut down before it was installed and welded to rust, or if the rail shown is the proper length and I need more parts to connect it to the quarters.

Here is my issue.

The pictures on line for this part it do not show the folded flanges that weld to the quarter drop off?

What am I not seeing? I cant seem to find a rail that looks long enough to go from drop off to drop off with folded ends to weld to?

Somebody got lazy. The center was bad, so they cut the ends off of a new one and seamed it together with the not-so-good ends. I suggest you do it right. All replacement rear crossmembers go dropoff-to-dropoff. The new piece you are illustrating is the reinforcement that rail to rail. There are small pieces that extend that reinforcement between the rail and dropoff.

So looking at the picture you posted, I see that it's a Dynacorn 3649Z, thats a convertible part number, my car is a fastback, the Dynacorn part # for a Cp/FB is 3649G, it looks like the catalog image that I posted earlier and it has no flanges on the ends? How does it attach?

If I order the G it will not look like what is rusty on my car, and from the looks of it will not attach in the same way as what was originally on my fastback. Does the "G" require other parts or "ends" to create the flange? Do I make them?

Here are the flanges that I am talking about, I do not see these on the Coupe/FB version of the Dynacorn "G" piece.

I posted that to show you had the wrong crossmember image posted. The one you need is listed by Glazier/Nolan as G10287. It welds to each trunk drop, and to the end of each frame rail, and of course to the taillight panel.
