Default Brake light

Ok this isnt a mustang question but I trust yalls opinions and knowledge.

My 75 F150 brake lights have gone out. I checked the bulbs they are good and when the head lights are on the bulbs light up like they are supposed to. The fella that had it before me had a shop put in a universal Painless Wiring Harness in it.

My question is can I hard wire a line from the battery to a fuse then to the brake light switch then straight to the brake lights. Do yall think that would work? Im not to good with electrical stuff so I really dont want to mess around with the fuse block that he had put in.

Do you have power at the brake light switch?

Well, then, the wire from the switch to the column is the problem, that should be easy to trace and fix. Prob'ly just a bad crimp on that aftermarket wiring.
