Ok so i guess i mustve messed something up and not lined the gasket up right, so is there a way to get the freakin heat tubes(i think thats what there called, the red ones.) out of the way, there are two going right over the passenger side valve cover and there really annoying to work around. it looks like it might be coming from one of the nuts, ill try putting a gasket on it to see if it helps.

Those intake spacers are known to be a problem with leaking due to the vac thats built into the spacer, atleast that is how it is on the v8's. An easy way to see if it is leaking is to go get yourself some carb cleaner and with the car running spray around the spacer wherever you think it may be leaking, if the rpms jump its leaking and you need to redo it and may have warped the carb.

cool, thnks for the reply. i have RTFed the bolt that seemed to be leaking and will observe its behavior tomorrow :O. will also spray the spacer.

hey JP you dont happen to have a electric choke carb sitting around do you was looking at some holleys and they wanted like 600-700$ for the carb and new intake manifold.
if you have any 2/4 bbl carbs or a intake manifold to switch from 2bbl to 4 ill buy it off of you.

have a stock 4 bbl intake off 289 think 65 should be the same and the stock spacer with the pvc built in. I dont know if i have any 4bbl carbs with ele choke or carbs at all my car is still cable. Have 3 or so 2bbl engines ill see if any have ele choke. I would probley sell the intake and spacer i dont plan on using it. As for carbs could check out edelbrock at autozone i get a pretty good discount around 20% i think their, i think i once payed around 300 for a new edelbrock for a friend. Might beable to find a nice one on craigslist.

yeh i was thinking 500 cfm too but i found the 600cfm edlebrock #1406 for cheap, if it works ill take it, if it doesnt, ohh well. i might just keep the 2100 for now ill clean out the heat riser tube and get it some new insulation. hopefully it'll work a bit better then, because now i would have to pump then crank for like 20 secs to get it start.

i also saw some automatic to electric choke conversion kits, might check into them...

I hear ya on that, i go to school full time too so car get put on hold for parts. And whats wrong with ur manual choke, really i would just install a cable choke and leave it, works the same and saves you a $100.

mines automatic thats what wrong LOL, no really auto chokes are worse then manual and electric IMO. i think i go the choke working good today, and set the fast idle.

the fast idle almost gave me a heart attack, a couple days ago it would not set no matter what i did. today after school i set it in like 2 minutes.

also the RTF seemed to work great for the oil leak around the bolt for the valve cover, i took it for a hard ride on the freeway(only the third time its been on freeway since i bought it) took it fast and hard to let the engine heat up and the oil pool went up, got home and no leak!

whats the approx 0-60 on these cars stock? seems decent for a 40+ year old car.
