The short answer is... it depends. But that doesn't help you.

It depends on if you're replacing something you just took out, and what you mean by 'install'

For instance, in my latemodel I can have the engine in, wired, with water, fuel and exhaust hooked up in about 1.5 hours by myself, its another 1.5 hours to get the tranny in and the driveshaft/shifter hooked up. But that's a car made for that type scenario.

If you're test fitting a new engine then you have to consider how much tweaking/adjusting/fabricating you'll have to do. Normally test fitting the engine is done during mock up, or fabrication/restoration stage. So when its all done and painted it will bolt right in. In that case you can probabaly have it all done in a day, but again, that's assuming you did all the mock-up and fitting during construction.

How long mock-up takes is totally dependent on what you're putting in and what you're adding/changing. There really isn't a way to estimate it.
