Pulled the engine today. decided to just pull the motor and leave the tranny for now. I may see if my 4 speed top loader will work with this setup. I am going to leave the shock tower and drill out the spot welds and hopefully reach good frame rail steel to weld into.

Filled in another patch of rust yesterday on the apron. Two down, only few more to go.

Hightower- it's going, slowly. Nothing as dramatic as this. I'm driving it and fixing as I go. Three kids and a teacher's salary. Time and money when I get them. But I have made progress. It's probably time for a new sig...

I hear ya, and yeah I wasn't sure how far along it was cause of your old sig. Feel free to start a thread of your progress, even if it's few and far between, everybody would like to see it and help if possible. It's a good way to keep everything organized actually.

Scootchu, how's the work going?

I got the passenger's side frame rail out and will get some pictures up soon. Had some issues to deal with at home that took me out of the frame of mind to work on the car. Stay tuned.

Actually it's just a portion of the frame rail North of the shock tower, so I will just match the plane of the existing frame rail.

Here are the pics from the other day. I had cut out the rusted frame rail back to the shock tower

I had a full frame rail and drilled out the spot welds. I fit the piece in according to the measurements I had acquired from the inside frame portion.

I decided to stagger the joints so that I could weld from inside and it should result in a stronger patch.

Penetration from underneath. Is this okay?

Cut the outside frame rail portion and dry fit that for now

A coat of Chassis Saver as far inside as I could reach

Top weld look okay????
