Question Accelerator return spring?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has a picture of there engine (Inline6) showing me how the Accelerator return spring is supposed to be hooked up. I bought my mustang last spring and it was hooked up from the accelerator rod to the exhaust flange/lip where it connects to the manifold. I don't think this is correct or is it?

Your blue engine shows it, but not very well. It goes from the throttle lever to the exhaust flange, which is why the OEM tended to rust off, and why the replacements are stainless steel.

Here's a photo of my 65 200 and a very nicely restored 65 200 I saw at Hershey last Summer. The throttle return spring is supposed to attach to that exhaust flange lip. I know in later years, the linkage & spring is different and positioned differently.

Hope this helps.
