Question Springs ??

Hi,

I am re-doing my suspension and already bought my KYB shocks. Now it's time to pick out my new coil and leaf springs. I am thinking about buying them with a 1" drop. I have a Inline 6 and just wondering if anyone thinks it's worth spending extra $$ or should I just go with stock stuff. I am eventually going to put the American Racing Wheels (Ansen Sprint) 15x7 on the car to give it a better look. Ideas, thoughts, concerns?

Glazier/Nolan will sell you show-correct GT leaf springs, with eye and U bolts, and shackles, for under $200. They have similar deals on other items. This car is wearing their suspension pars. Seems like a good stance to me:

A little high for my tastes, but you could always cut down the fronts a hair if you don't like it. I have Mustangs Plus 1" drop 560lb coils in the front of my car, but I think they'd be too stiff for an I6 car.

Yeah the 1" drop coils made mine look like a 4x4 with a 2" lift kit. I had to cut the coils to get it to look right.

So your all thinking I should just stick with the stock Inline6 replacements?

The 64-66 200 and regular 289 use the same springs, since the engines are very similar in weight. The 65-66 GT uses a heavier spring. Either way, you should follow the link below and do that when you install the new springs. The front will be slightly lowered, and you can work from there if you need to take out 1/4 coil, etc, to fine-tune.

If you don't want as 'high' a stance as the GT350 above i would look at 480 1" drop springs. Just remember if you go with standard springs and they're too high by much they will get stiffer every time you cut more of the coil off.

What size tire would you put on the 15x7s?

Haven't really thought about it, probably something around the stock size
