Default Should I replace the shock tower???

After looking at how much passenger side frame rail I will have to remove, it seems like I reach good metal in between the sway bar mount and the shock tower. Rather than trying to cut and weld in between the two should I just remove the old shock tower and replace it? Seems like it would be easier and cleaner to do it that way rather than drilling out the welds on the LCA bracket, if, I am assuming I could anyway.

I already have the full rail.

If the steel at the tower is good, there's no reason to do more than section in the front part of the rail. Save your efforts.

I agree with with 2+2GT. Replace only what is rotted. If the steel is fine your golden.

Don't laugh I considered a coil over front end. I am getting frustrated, not with the work, but with being worried about chasing my tail. I look at all of my sad suspension and say... "well, I may as well replace it with a coil over". Then I hear the cash register and wake up. LOL

The problem with the frame rail is that I don't feel good about the steel until I reach the first couple of inches into the shock tower.

Also I am going to pull the engine and can't get to the bolts on the frame for the Z bar to undo them. When I start to pull the engine can I work the bar free by moving the engine towards the passenger side??

my first thought is u could carefully remove engine w/ z bar frame rail seized bolts in place. loosen z bar bolt at engine. don't loose any fingers.

heat seized bolts cherry red to release once u have access.

Shock towers? We don't need no stinkin' shock towers.

I did a Rod & Custom (RC107), when you figure everything you're getting with power rack & pinion and disc brakes the price isn't all that bad. It goes in really easy too.

I looked at that. I am going to convert to discs up front, so there's $600. New control arms, sway bar etc... I can almost justify it.
But then I would have to return the export brace and MC bar.
Question about the steering column; what do need when you go your route?
