Default Door VS. Fender gap

I have a 65 mustang, I have the doors and fenders off. When I put them back on what is should the gap be between the door and the jamb. Then what is the gap between the door and fender.

A broad rule of thumb is to use a paint stick. It's roughly 3/16", or just under. Your objective is to keep the gap equal around the entire panel, AND flush with the adjacent panels as you look down the side of the car. It's not difficult, just very time consuming to get it absolutely right in all three plains. I recently discovered after removing all my windows and hardware that my doors raised a 1/16" at the rear edge, so now I have to add that weight when I align them.

Ford assembled the doors to the car, and lined them up to the quarter. Then they installed the fender, and lined them up to the door.

Yup, same advice G/N gave me when I picked up my new doors.

That's how every car is done and just make sure the gaps don't look huge and are even.

"2+2", that's a pretty amazing fit on all of those panels. Are they factory, replacement, or a mixture?
