Default Donor car question

What single donor vehicle should I be looking for to get a 460 and manual 4 speed from, I'm assuming that this will also have a 9" rear?

Thanks!

I don't know if Ford ever mad a 460 4 speed car. 460s were for the full size cars and trucks. Maybe a mid 70's Starsky and Hutch Torino. I'm not sure you are going to find one of those cheap. The 9" that comes in that is going to have to be heavily modded to get it work in a Mustang.

You do understand you're looking for the "big shaft" version of the 4-speed. These bad boys are pricey.

Modded other than shortened?

Probally right, I don't imagine there was much call for many other than truck apps for 460 manuals, outside of the performance cars of the day which are hard to come by and very steep when found

Your shock towers will need to go to fit a 460, but you probably already knew that.

I hate to contradict, but the 460 is bolt-in for any 67-73 Mustang.

This guy did more than needed, but it's a pretty good page:

I've seen a pretty good notch job on the towers to make the plugs easier to change.
