A heat gun might help with your undercoating removal, unless you have a different type of undercoating. It sounds like you've got something like POR-15 or something, so I doubt a heat gun would help.

I just did mine on my 66 vert. One side i did just the inner rocker. The other side I did the full inner/outer. When I did just the inner ran into a problem where the top of inner when lined up with top of the old outer but bottom sloped down and was not lining up as well as I would have liked. It was okay at back end but by the time it got to the front it was a good 3/4 inch lower. I needed to massage the torque boxes to git it to fit properly. Took a lot of measurements and had the car on a jig with braces on the door. So I don't think it was due to not being set up properly. Plus put doors back on and they line up nice. In doing some research I ran accross others that have had a similiar problem. When I did full inner/outer rocker on other side not an issue. I probably should have done full inner/outer on both sides. Hopefully you will not run into the lining up problem I did. Keep us posted.

Sounds like your sag was not eve front to rear. That's pretty typical, they usually sag more at the front. It's best to support the car in many places, and use a jig or Port-A-Power to push the body back to shape. And do the worst side first.

I ended up building a jig - look familiar. (used one of your post as a model). Used a lazer level on pilars, torque boxes, frame rails, etc. Still had the issue. Must be the sag that you refer to. The doors and fenders all line up but I don't have the suspension or any other drivetrain components in it. Is this going to come back and bite me? That would suck - got new full floor in now. Would be a major issue to go back and try to correct.

Typically the body takes a 'set' at the bent shape, and I usually had to brace a Port-A-Power between the upper front corner and lower rear corner of the door opening. Once that would sit straight, I'd attach the new inner rocker assembly and torque box.

heres are some pics. On the passenger side you can see difference at the bottom. I'll trim it but still probably be noticeable to a trained eye. Live and learn.

looks good, gotta start mine soon as the summer is approaching.

only thing is that my car is pretty much in good condition aside from the inner rockers so i gotta be carefull not to *** up the paint too much.
