Default Electronic Speedometer

Does anyone remember seeing a magazine article about an electronic speedometer conversion kit? The one I'm remembering just went on the back of the stock speedo and eliminated the cable. I'm trying to figure out who made it or where you can get it.

Cable-X?

Couldn't find a magazine article, but apparently there's enough interest in keeping original gauges when swapping in modern transmissions to cause a similar thread here. Hope it helps.

I haven't heard of changing the speedometer gauge internals, but the Cable-X as well as a new box by Classic Instruments (much cheaper!) converts the electronic pulse from the transmission to a mechanical speedometer cable that goes to your speedometer.

Yeah. More or less.

The speedo gauge head was covered in grease and it gummed up the magnet. That caused the needle to not always return to 0 and to waver and sometimes swing all the way across the gauge.

The gauge, cable, and everything were new about 2 years ago.

That name sounds familiar, I bet thats the one I heard of. I wish it wasn't so expensive. I'll keep it in mind.

I have never heard of that company before, but I like what they are doing.
