Question about a torque/stall converter
Hey everyone, haven't posted here in awhile, been really busy and all. Anyhow, putting a few final touches on the stang, and I was wondering would a stall converter be a good idea (this is also called a torque converter too?) B&M makes them ya?
Anyhow, would this be a good idea for my car, lets see, it has 3.25 gears, so that might help on determining what kind to get, I wouldn't want to get too high or too low of one.
But I guess my real question is, ya it makes you go faster, but is this more of a strip upgrade, or a streetable one, I figured if I didn't get too aggressive of one, it would be fine on the street, but then again I have no experience with these, so guys please help!

RE: Question about a torque/stall converter
Depends on your cam, mostly. If it makes peak torque at higher rpms, then a higher stall converter will get you off the line better and faster. If your motor is stock or warmed up a little, a mild stall would help...about 500 rpm more than stock.

RE: Question about a torque/stall converter
Well I have an Edelbrock cam, not sure what make really, but it is pretty mild, not too big.
My engine has all the bolt ons, and a few new parts as well. Edelbrock 600cfm carb, manifold, hooker headers, new lifters, mollery ignition, alluminum pulleys/radiator, electric fan, and I am sure I am forgetting a few things as well.......
I do have stock heads and I have the C4, with a B&M shift kit, and possi traction
so maybe that can help you guys out, so you can reccomend something to me, I just want to make the stang the best it can be right now.
Also, I don't drive the Mustang all the time now, but I would like to be able to drive it normal when I do, (like on the freeway), hah when I got the 3.80 gears I could only go like 85, but now since I got the 3.25 things are all find and dandy.

RE: Question about a torque/stall converter
Well it seems that most people that have around what I have, have gone with a 2,500 one......
EDIT: Well it seems B&M makes a 2000,2400, and a 3000, so I would prob go with the 2,400 I would believe.
here is a link to the product, what do you guys think?

I am looking into the Tork Master one, it can be found on this page, I guess it is for street use.

RE: Question about a torque/stall converter
You might want to go here: http://www.tciauto.com/tci/application_form.asp and have them recommend a converter for you. I had them spec me one out and I'm happy as can be!
