If an application calls for 14 ga wire and you use 16 ga instead, or vise versa, does that create a problem?

heavier is always better never i repeat never go lighter gauge wire on anything not even a taillight or a horn rule of thumb is if it says 18 only go up 1 step 18 gauge 1 step heavier is 16, if it calls for 14 gauge and u use 16 you gonna burn something down wire always has hot current goin thru it

ive installed a tons of stereo systems in my day and i had only 1 issue and that was using #1 wire instead of using double 00 wire result was bad so bad that i had to explain it to my insurance company lol
