Default Help with autolite 1100

I just got a 66 mustang (have worked a little on a 67 before).

I need some help with the autolite 1100 it has on there.

I expected when I pull the throttle linkage like it would be when the pedal is pressed that the plate above the carb bowl would move and close up. However when I move the accel linkage nothing happens. It is like a part is missing. On my 67 there is a spring that does this I think. I put up a couple pics if anyone can see what I mean. Or if there is a good dissasembly and reassembly online that any one knows that would be great.

Also, I tried to see if I could pull it apart a little bit to clean it up. I pull all of the screws off on the top. The ones on the main plate that face down. But after I pulled them off the main plate still did not come off. What else needs to come off to get this thing apart?

I have a carb on order from pony carbs but it is going to be a couple weeks. I want to see if I can run it for a little while in the yard with my handy work.

Thanks a bunch.

Here are some pics

That sounds about right. Can you ship that on over

I am sure I can just swap that in and go right?

That carb looks like it's seen better days...I think the plate you are referring to is the choke plate? It is adjusted by the black plastic dial to the rear of the carb. While you are waiting for your new carb (did you get the vaporizer?), I would go to NAPA and get a carb rebuild kit. The one's I saw from Autozone were not complete. I believe the one for your carb is "Echlin" #CRB2-5579. It should cost around $24.00.

I am not on par with the folks on this forum, but I was able to take apart this carb with no trouble at all using the site I am providing below. There really isn't much to this carb and I have a better understanding of it now.

Good luck. Let us know how it is going.

man these things look completely different then the 2100's
remove the four screws on the accelerator pump and see if there is a spring and rubber piece under the spring. this is what puts gas into the carb. it seems your missing the whole pedal to pump assembly.

to get it apart remove all screws off the top pry it off, the gasket is probably stuck real good glueing them together.

I am not sure, am I missing a part?

When I look at mine carb though there is a stub in there where this would fit in on the opposite side of the dashpot.

This is not mine. But I am questioning why this one has this extra piece and mine does not.

I guess there are different version of this 1100?

I am going to pull it off and try and clean it out in the morning.

That is called a Vent Valve Rod. I think it acts as some type of release valve. Some of the Autolite 1100's have it, and other's don't. Not sure why that is.
