Clutch
Still have this problem. Cleaned the flywheel and pressure plate with lacquer thinner before installing them on the new engine and still the same result. Motor mounts are fine and so is the tranny mount. Everything is bolted down. Also have a new throwout bearing and pilot bearing installed. Its hard for me to get the car going with this problem. I'm used to raising the RPMs up a little before letting the clutch out and I can't with this clutch.
Well I have now narrowed down the problem to 1st gear. I'm not exactly sure whats going on, but it is definitely first gear. Reverse goes into gear smoothly, as does taking off in 2nd gear. Therefore 1st is the only gear that will not go in smoothly.
okay here.
Put the *** of the car on jack stands so both rear wheels are off the ground. Put the car in 1st gear and push in the clutch. Have someone rotate the rear wheels by hand. Then compare that to 2nd gear.
Then start the car and put it in 1st and put the clutch in...do the rear wheels spin? What about in 2nd?
That might help give you some new ideas.

Ok so I am having to replace my speedo cable since it quit working and I'm going to replace my clutch pedal spring because the pedal doesn't come all the way back. One thing I noticed is there is another spring they say attaches to the equalizer bar and the firewall. My 67 doesn't have this spring, but they have a part number for that year. So do I need to buy it as well and add it?
