Default T-5 Idendification Help

I am thinking about doing a C-4 to T-5 swap. The transmission I am looking at is a T-5 with casting numbers 13-51-097-901 on the head of the case, and 13-52-066-908 on the tail.

I have found a few tables and charts that have the identifiers on them, but I can't find the 13-51 numbers anywhere, and the 13-52 number comes up saying that it can't be found.

I have been told that it is out of an 84 mustang, but I just want to make sure.

Any help would be great.

you need the tag number its literally stamped on a tag that at one time was bolted to the case using one of the bolts that hold the tail housing to the t5 main case. So it should be located about mid way and right at the seam where the tail housing meets the main case.

If you cant find it easy its probably been removed.

The cast numbers you gave have very little meaning. You will need the tag as Gun said.

I put this webpage together when I was doing my T5 install to help others and prevent people from misleading you when you are shopping for a used T5:

here are more T5 related pages I put together:

If it is from an 84 it will not be a World Class transmission, which is fine as long as you can live with that. I run one and have had no problems with it. Since it is not a WC trans I would not pay a lot for it. I would messure the input shaft length and diameter to make sure it it not from a 4 cylinder and will work behind a small block. Here is a link to the specs you will need to messure.

Ok, I found the tag under many years of grease and dirt. It says it is out of an 84 mustang/capri with a 5.0 so I believe I'm good there.

I purchased this tranny for $100 so I don't think I can be burned badly.

I did take the cover off to take a look at the guts, and I noticed that the rod seems to be galled where the tail meets the head of the tranny.

Everything else seems to be ok, but i don't see how that rod could be wore like it is.

Anyone have any info on this for me?

By the way...a big thanks to everyone that has replied.
