i've set the trans to neutral manually using one of the ears.

I know that furthest left is 3/4, middle is reverse/not, and furthest right is 1/2

i know which ones on the control box are 1/2, 3/4, and reverse

my issue is i don't know how to orient the ears or arms.

if anyone has a picture of their 4spd toploader with the shifter all attached and working, please let me see it. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't have any pics of mine but you can easily figure it out by turning the input shaft and watching the output shaft...4th gear is 1:1 ratio so the output shaft will turn the same as you turn the input...Once you have that you know you have the 3/4 lever so the other one is obviously 1/2...The reverse lever only moves in one direction and of course the output shaft will turn backwards...Don't forget to move the lever back into the neutral position or you won't be able to shift into any other gear...
