Can anyone identify an engine?
Can anyone tell me, what kind of engine is this (260cu, 289cu,..)?
This 65 Mustang coupe has manual gearbox, i don't know any details if it is custom or original.
All i have is this photo of an engine. Can anyone help me out?

The engine appears to be a 260 because of the location of the oil breather and the fact that it has a generator. The early cars had the breather in the location show in the picture while the later cars had them on the left valve cover. The transmission appears to be a 3 speed manual. That is the best I can do from those pictures.
Is it possible, that this is then a 64 1/2 model of Ford Mustang?
How good is this engine with manual gearbox comparing with 289cu automatic?
I ha ve a chance to get this car, beacuse it is in pretty good shape, i'm just not sure about the engine and manual gearbox.
How is the power and sound?

listen, this is purely my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.
that car is fine the way it is. it isnt the fastest or most powerful car out there. honestly, it looks like a decent daily driver from the photos. i would buy it and enjoy the **** out of it as is. if your looking for power and sound, look eslewhere. heck buy a newer car. you'll even get good to great gas mileage is a new performance car. old cars can be fast, powerful, and mean sounding, but the right ones. this one seems like its perfect the way it is.
now having said that, please get the car and do what you will. its your life and your project. if your willing to make it perform and handle up to the standards of todays cars, go for it. you'll get respect and looks (however you get that leaving as is too, go figure)
basically, its all up to you. you know my opinion and many people feel different ways. if its a good enough price and a solid car to do mods to, by all means go for it

i agree with jimmy, lemme give you an example.
i have a 67 with a 289 3 speed automatic, in all honesty it not fast at all, i have a hard time going past 80 and my friends prius can beat me in a drag race, that being said driving my car is sooooo much fun, theres somethign about the deep rumble that you dont hear on todays cars that makes it fun as hell.
i say go for it, you could always put in a bigger engine later on

Since the car has a generator I would say with 99% certainty that it is a 64 1/2. Check the 5 digit of the VIN, it will be an F for a 260 2 barrel carburetor or a D for a 260 4 barrel carburetor. If it is either of those codes, D or F then it is a 64 1/2.
The 260 engine performs just as well as a 289, even the early Cobras had 260's in them. Where are you located?
