Cool wiring issues

I've run into a few issues. Got a 66 mustang coupe. Just changed the dash bezel trim and replaced the bulbs now they won't light up. I checked the fuse and it looks fine. Nezt issue is I installed a usa-66 radio. I went off the lighter with the Orange wire and the fog light with the red. It is on but no sound and won't change functions. My lighter fuse is blow would that prevent it from working only halfway? Thanks.

If you look at my "Dashpad is installed" post from yesterday you'll see I have pretty much the same problem. Once the bezel went back in it went dark. Got working gauges, working high beam indicator, working oil and alt lights and working turn signal indicator but the lights which just generally light things up are out. I figure I pulled a ground loose somewhere. So I'll just drive in the daylight for a while.

See if it is a ground shared by the radio. When I changed the speaker at the same time I had some extra wires from a rear speaker install by the previous owner. I cut those. Might have had a shared ground from the speaker or radio. You got radio problems too, right?

the bezels lamps for illumination at light take their ground from the cluster. the cluster itself is grounded with the clamp at the bottom part that hooks into the dash (metal part of it) itself.
so take it back out, make sure the dash is grounded, then where the cluster hooks into dash make sure (at the back its clean to pick ground). that might help

Thanks kalli I did not know that. It would explane them not working because I had the cluster out when testing. The radio is still an isuue. I hooked it up again and still it won't change functions.

on your radio the red wire is main power and the orange is memory. both need power the orange needs constant power or the tuner will not work. yes the blown fuse is your problem. red to switched power.
