So....67-70 have the same wheel well sizes with some slight variation on the style of the sheet metal around the opening (shape). So 315 35 17 can be put on the car with rolled/trimmed fenders using a 17x10.5 wheel. Seems like a lot of work just to go up to a 335

You have no idea what you're getting into, do you?

300ANYTHING wide tires are very expensive, and there's only a few models out there that were made specifically for certain cars like Vipers and Lamborghinis. They're typically a 3-5k mile tire at best because they're warm weather, soft compound tires that work like crap when it's colder than 40-50*F outside. And mounted and balanced you're looking at around $1,000-1,200 a pair. So if you want to spend over $1k on tires every few thousand miles, I hope you have a good job.

That, and unless you actually have the power to need that much tire, you'll just slow yourself down. That is a LOT of rotating inertia and requires more power to turn. Plus, if you needed that much tire then you'd be getting rid of a leaf spring ANYWAY, because you'd have a REALLY hard time keeping the rear end even REMOTELY in place under power.

315 is HUGE. Even 265's are pretty big for a car like a Classic Mustang, anything over 275 almost starts looking goofy. And if you start moving the tire inboard, then all you're doing is decreasing the vehicles track width, which won't help handling. Plus with that much rear you'd need a huge front tire to not turn the car into an understeering nightmare. So then you're looking at a set of 265-276 for the front, which would require either huge front rims or a lot of suspension modification.

Basically what you want to do is a complete waste without extensive vehicle modification. And I SERIOUSLY doubt the car has been modified enough to warrant it.

WOW! That was an eye full. I was loosing my breath just reading that! Ok everybody is entitled to their opinion. If nobody ever modified anything we'd never have any custom car shows,or SEMA shows. That would be pretty boring. Look up pro touring cars see whatcha find. I don't know where you got your prices from but I would never pay that.look on eBay. 560.00 for 2 brand new 335/35/20Pirelli's. There many others on many other sites. I live in Florida, cold weather isn't really an issue. Maybe a month or two at the most. So any way all I'm going to do is drive it to some car shows cruise around have fun. It's not going to be a drag or road race car. Just something to enjoy. Yea I know what I'm getting into. I 've thought a out it for 23 years. Now it's time to do it. Not getting any younger!

No offense, but that looks like hell, especially the gray one. Barf...

Do you want a car you can drive, or just one to set up on display?

Listen to Dodgestang. He knows more than most about wheel fitment.

I also agree with 67mustang302.

No one is telling you not to modify your Mustang. I will say that most of the stuff at SEMA etc is way over done. I can't stand any of it.

However, if you do you should research what your want to do and set the car up properly or at least as good as you can, and not just throw it together. That size wheel will probably drag the car down.

I agree on the gray 67, way to much. But the 65 or 66, that's a perfect look. I have been listening to Dodgestang I'm just alittle stubborn sometimes . As for the coil over set up for the rear? Dodgestang you said 3 link set up? Can't remember, I wasn't paying attention. J/K. So ladder bar and panhard bar? Buy a Kit, or individually from Jegs, or Summit? Any pics of yours or of tire, suspension set up? Just have some patience with me, I 'll come around.

I run a 3 link setup on my 65 with stock wheel wells. With it I could mini tub it and probably gain another 1/2 over a standard mini-tub because of how my brackets attach...but I don't need to...I fit a 275 drag radial for the track and it already runs faster than I wanted it too at 11.4

Getting the rear suspension to work properly is also IMO more involved that piecing parts together from jegs/summit...there are several manufactures out there of quality 3 and 4 link setups.

I run the largest you can put on a 65 at the track which is a 275 40 17

I posted a link of a 70 with a 315 that IMO you could squeeze on a 67/8 as long as you were running a rear centering device (panhard/watts).

I run a simple 275 40 on the back of my 68 on the street because I could bolt it on with no fender issues, no rubbing at all, and have a safe combo

Here is a car that I think is what you want to do.
Has details on the suspension as well in the thread body.

i think this car is bad ***, but if it what your looking for, its nowhere near "easy" to do if you really dont have basic experience in tire sizes
