Default Engine & suspension question

So I've been looking for engines to upgrade my stock 289 and I really like the 351W with 400HP but whenever i find those they are usually 7K or above. recently i came across the new coyote modular engines and I am very intrigued. 6K and 412 HP but they are obviously too big for the engine bay. Im not a fan of the mustang II. I'd rather have a coil over set up. so my question is does anyone know if by chopping the towers like this AJE suspension will it allow for the modular engine to drop?

here is the pic

ps. can someone explain or guide me to where i can learn the difference between modular and crated engines?

Thanks

Keep in mind you'd also need engine management, harness, then a bellhousing to mate it to a trans that will work etc. A swap like that isn't just the engine.

If you're concerned about cost, it's WAY cheaper to just build a 347 stroker.

yeah after i posted this i found a similar thread. too much $$$$$$$ ill just stick with a nice crate. The engine itself may be cheaper but everything else defeats the purpose of choosing the modular engine, shaving the shock towers, different suspension, wiring, etc. Not worth it

Thanks for your time

Yeah you can get a 400hp small block cheap throw in a good over drive trans and be good to go.Give this a reading http://home.bresnan.net/~dazed/suspension101 its the basics of how to upgrade the stock suspension.

the cheapest i found was 7K. Do you know where i can get something lower than that?
preferably a 351W. I always wondered how much one would save if they knew how to build their own engines. anyone know what the usual mark ups are for these engines?

Thanks for the link

in my experience, parts cost are the major cost of a non-stock engine. machine work/assembly is a small part. add up every fastener, fuel line, etc and you'll understand.

Depends on what level of performance/reliability you want.

Talk to some of your local engine builders tell them how big power and your budget.

FWIW: Swapping in a 351W will entail more than just a weekend R&R'ing and engine...even if it is carb'd based. Given the extra cubes you'll have to upgrade to a larger radiator and possibly electric fan(s) too. Depending on your choice of intakes and filter combo you may even need a new hood. If it was me, and i'm in the same boat because i'm chosing an engine combo; go with a 347. Lots of power from a little package. I'm going with an EFI'd 347 single turbo combo. Enough power to keep the Fast & Furious ricers at bay, will still mild enough for simple commutes and will be reliable.
