Default Searching for an old mustang

I am looking for my father in laws old 69 mustang that he used to own. I have the vin number and have checked with the DMV and the car is no longer registered in rhode island or mass. Does anyone know of any other ways to try and locate the car? Any help would be great. For those who live in new England I'm going to try to see if by some chance it ended up at tosies mustang farm.

Good luck, but don't be surprised if it ended up as an 88 Chevy or a steel signpost. I hope it's out there and you find it.

What about carfax? I think you just do the vin and it would at least give some maintenance history etc. Then you can narrow down what state it is in.

Carfax won't go that far back its earliest years are like late 80s early 90s.The odds are the cars long gone years ago when cars stopped running most people just junked it and bought a newer car.My dad had a 71 sport roof when i was a kid when he blew up the engine it sat for years then he sold it.Years later he called the guy he sold it to trying to buy it back.Well the car was used as a parts car to fix a mach1 what was left got scrapped.

Start posting the VIN on every mustang forum & club to see if it's out there.

There's always the chance it's overseas somewhere with schnitzel under the seat.

Marti only tells you what it was when it came from the factory, not who bought and sold it.
If it's just for sentimental reasons, it would be much easier to find a similar 69 and fix it up with same color like it was (or should have been).

If it hasn't been tagged in years the odds are its been scrapped or went over seas.A 20k mach1 here is worth 50k plus in most countries that never got it new.
