Considering what it costs to repair a cut dash, I would do a LOT to avoid cutting it.

Put it in the glove box.

Glove box, definitely do not cut the dash. I am putting the working AM radio back in my car for originality purposes. New radio will be hidden behind dash operated via Bluetooth remote on my iPhone.

NO CUT

CUT (If desired.)

Ford made almost a half a million coupes in 1966. Do what you want.

if you want the radio in the dash, cut it.Its just a dash and it repairable. To me its no big deal like it used to be and If i was to buy a car with a DIN radio already installed, it would be 1 less issue to deal with as long as it was done correctly.

Mine is in the glove box

I think I like the glove box idea. Not cutting your dash preserves it's value. IMO.

If your car is something collectable, such as a early vin or a K-Code, and you plan to maintain the car as original, then I'd say do not cut the dash.

If your 66 coupe if one of the 700,000 other regular coupes built in that year, then I'd recommend cutting the dash and installing a DIN style frame. After owning my 65 for 10 years and suffering through terrible USA-1 radios, I cut my dash last year and have never been more pleased.

Do it correctly, use a dremel or other file cutting tool. Mark precisely. Install a rear brace to support the radio. wire in some great speakers and love your new tunes*S*
