Default Head Gasket?

So I just had my head gasket fix on my 65 inline 6 but now I noticed that when I give it a little gas very slowly leaving the stop light it chugs and almost dies. Could this be an issue that since my head gasket was blown and now it's fixed the carb needs adjustment?

Possibly. But I'd check for compression and coolant leaks first.

I check for coolant leaks but none to be found. How can I check compression? I checked over the fuel lines thinking there might be a leak but didn't find any. It runs good when it's cold and I first drive it but after I shut it off and start it up again is when it dies. Hmmmm........

Coolant leaking into the cylinder, is it losing coolant? Go buy a compression tester and do a cranking compression test.

If the head gasket was just changed and now it runs like crap, I'd suspect it's either a head gasket leak or an intake leak.

Also spray carb/brake cleaner along the intake where it meets the head when the engine is running, if the idle changes you have a vacuum leak.
