Default fuel priming

I'm trying to get the 70 to run on its own and I put about 2.5 gallons in the tank and poured some into the carb to get it to start and spin the eccentric for the pump. I have a see through fuel filter and its dry inside.

do I need more fuel or am I doing something wrong?

use a small bottle to pour some gas into the vent tube of the carb - that will fill the bowl and feed the carb long enough to get the fuel from the tank

aye. that's the easiest way to do it. don't overfill. agitate throttle once to close choke if you have one, and spray a little into the intake
don't pour it straight down the carb, that will probably just soak the sparkers

In my experience, it takes about 10 seconds of cranking the engine to get fuel from the tank, fill the bowl, and into the venturi. That is 10 full seconds and it will seem like a long time of cranking. That can be hard on a battery if not recently charged.

Good luck.

the filter is before the pump...is that correct? my girlfriends dad told me to put it there but someone at work told me to put it after the pump.

it was a fuel pump thanks for the help...heres 2 videos of it running without me pouring gas down the carb:

does anything sound odd in the second video? kinda like someone tapping on the oil breather? or am I hearing loose things?

does sound like a clicking sound, my hearing isnt the best. exhaust is pretty loud though so it make it hard to hear. looks good. seems like you figured out your fuel problem by the length of time its running in the videos. my wifes been driving a 70 for years now, 302 engine, great car so far.
