Default Help Finding Weather Strip (1969 Quarter Window)

I am having a terrible time finding a set of replacement weather striping seals for the quarter windows that pivot behind the main door windows in my 1969 fastback. I have read through the NPD catalog and did not see them and have searched several of the regular online sources, but also did not see anything that really was even close. This is the rubber mounted to the body that that window seals against.

Any help on where to find them or what they are called? Mine are completely dry rotted and let a ton of water in when going through the car wash.

Thanks!

I'm not sure you are going to find a 'replacement' factory type seal for under the boomerang bottom. I used a strip of mastic that I cut off of a roll. The assemply manual calls for the same stuff to be put under the stainless steel weatherstrip retainer (seal or P.V.C. tape .25 thick x .75 wide). This stuff can be purchased at an automotive paint supply store or a 'good' auto supply store.

give them a call, or try G/N. Sometimes they don't have all parts in catalogue.
I gut mine for a 1965 no problem from NPD (the one between quarter panel and quarter window). I forgot the manufacturer of them ... but can have a look when home
other than that maybe glue-type weatherstripping there's plenty of felt to buy that comes on a roll?

I have not tried them...I will check out their site.

So this stuff is just glued under the quarter window? I am afraid to take it off as it is all I have right now.

I am not sure we are talking about the same thing. The seal around the back and bottom portion of the quarter window on my 69 fastback is not just a strip of rubber. It is looks more like a T with a piece going vertical that the glass seals against and has a molded piece that bends down and screws to the door jam.

I am wondering if NPD part number 27802-4A "Extension to Quarter Panel Seal" is it. I guess I will call NPD as their catalog does not show any better description.

Does anyone else hate their new online catalog? I can never find something I want in the search. I now have to flip through the paper catalog. Their old online catalog system was great...geez.

Edit: Nope, that part number is for the back corners where the quarter panel hits the back panel...dang it.

I asked NPD if the Roof Rail Seal went from the front of the door window all the way around the quarter window. The guy said no...it stops at the junction of the door window and quarter window. So, I called Steel Rubber. They did not have it or know what he part number would be and sent me to Carpenter's. Carpenter's said they do not deal with Mustangs and gave me Harris Mustang's number out of Charlotte. The fellow at Harris Mustang said NPD was on crack and the Roof Rail Seal does go all the way around. Eventhough NPD carries it, I went ahead and ordered a set from Harris Mustang so if he is right I can give him a little business and if he is wrong, I can send it back easily. Man, what a treasure hunt.

Someone had replaced my door window weatherstrip, but the quarter window seal looks original...that has me a little worried because if the roof rail seal went all the way around, why did the previous owner not install the whole piece? I guess we will see.

Urban Cowboy, the seal that the door window glass seals against is also the seal that the pop-out quarter window seals against. It is one long rubber piece that starts about half way up the forward edge of the door pillar( pushes into the stainless track) goes over the entire area above the door window and quarter window, goes around the back and bottom of the quarter window and stops at the forward bottom edge of the quarter window. It has holes in it where the quarter window's pivots go thru. This seal is very available at many suppliers. I thought you were looking for a seal that goes under the stainless or the boomerang piece. Sorry for the confusion.

Hmmm… I have seen restored 69-70 fastbacks at Glazier/Nolan, and that seal was new. I always thought it was part of the roofrail weatherstrip. The 69-70 fastback roofrail weatherstrip cost twice as much as any other roofrail weatherstrip, I figure it dang well better do the job. Call G/N and ask, they'll pull one off the shelf and measure it, if you want. Or if the seal you need is the one Cruzzar describes, they'll pull that one out for you, too.
