weird question after rebuild
wound up having to go with a different block for my 200 ci 6 poper,, it's the ci all right,,, but I have a smog set up and the mounting bracket for it won't bolt on cause there's a weid "bump out" ? where the bracket goes.
The bolts use the same hole as for mounting the coil,, the bracket goes back towards the rear of the block approx 3" or so right where the "bump out" is so I can't bolt the mount brack for the smog to the block. So the smog gear is hanging in mid-air.
The " Bump out" is approx 3.5 inches behing the coil mounting holes and stick out approx 2.5"... I have no idea what purpose it serves,, the orignal block had a bad crack in the #1 cyclinder so they sold me this one for 150.00 and runs good,,but I wanted to keep the car as close as possible to how it was when it came off the Assmbly line.
I asked the machine shop if it was a solid matach and they said yes,, I didn't think I had to ask anything else as I told them what I was looking to do.
any idea what this "bump out" is or does. I have a 66 , with 200 ci, manual trany, 1st gen smog, no ac
thanks for any help/info
