Default 67 Brake Lights Stay On

A different problem than others have mentioned. I just picked up a 67 and noticed the brake lights are staying on. I noticed it the first time after I took it through the car was and again today since it has been raining. Not sure if it is a water related short or if it might be relate to some other component. Any suggestions?

The lights are on when the engine is off and the ignition switch is off. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I noticed when I pulled one of the bulbs out they both stopped burning and when I replaced it, they didn't come back on. How do you check that this switch is the problem? Or do you just swap out parts and see if that solves the problem?

just disconnect the switch. If the lights go out then that's your problem. Also make sure that the switch is seated against the brake pedal correctly.

it's likely you've created another problem by taking the bulb out. make sure you seated the bulb you removed properly in the socket.

What problem could I have created? The bulb is re-installed properly.
