Default painting the engine.

I decided since i was already into the engine because of the timing chain that i would paint the parts i had off the car. SO i have painted the pullys/fan gloss HIgh Temp black.(it's not to glossy) and im going to repaint the radiator black too. I have painted the timing cover back to old ford blue. the cover wasn't even painted. I also painted the air cleaner back blue and will be painting the new water pump as soon as it gets here. So it should be looking much better when it gets done. I'll post some pics if i ever get my digital camara back from my impala. As far as the timing chain, it looked pretty rough. The nylon gear was totally gone in a few areas, and most of the plastic was worn down on all the teeth.

i think you are supposed to use water based paint on your radiator otherwise it can mess up proper heat transfer. page 71 of npd catalog.

Sure man.

You might want to read this article, it helped me a lot when I began detailing my engine compartment:

http://links.vintage-mustang.com/FAQ...detailing.html

and eastwood has some great products. look around their website. It's a tad more expensive than hardware store paint, but you get what you pay for.

The radiator thing came from me... I made the mistake once. Car overheated going down the freeway!

So...

DO NOT PAINT THE RADIATOR

Special radiator paints are ok. NOTHING ELSE!!!

C!
