Default Coolant Sensor for 289 w/Weiand 8124

I'm having a Weiand 8124 intake and a Summit 600cfm carb installed on my mostly stock 289, as recommended by some of you guys - thanks a bunch - but the shop is saying that I need a new coolant sensor because the current one doesn't fit the Weiand.

Pointers, anyone?

I just picked one up. For the most part it's pretty well-built and seems to be more based on the holley setup. Get longer carb bolts or studs for it, because the spacer that comes with it will require you to have them.

I don't have a weiand intake, but from what I understand all aftermarket intakes should use the same stock temp sensor. If nothing else you could call summit (I'm guessing that's who you got the intake from) and ask them.

Just about any parts store will have an adapter for that. I'm sorry to say it does not give me confidence in your shop if they can't over come a problem like that.

My overall experience with them has been good. Without really going in to it, they're doing the labor for free. Maybe that played a part in it. I didn't even know what it was until I realized it's just the sending unit for my temp gauge. Seemed a bit common to worry over.

Anyway, it got sorted out.

Hey jp1967, the Summit carb was highly recommended by some forum members here. Hopefully I can give you my thumbs up on it also.

I heard the guy that designed the holley also designed the summit but took all the down falls of the holley and improved on them. Only bad ive really herd or read was the quality of how their manufactured and imperfections. I think im going to get one tho.
