Engine Bay - Black Epoxy?
Getting read to do my engine bay and am considering just shooting with SPI black epoxy and calling it a day. I used Eastwoods underhood black on last project and like the sheen - - basically satin black. One thing I did not do when using eastwood was to sanding out some of the roughness from sandblasting before spraying etching and underhood - little rough feeling. Stuff went on pretty thin.
Couple of questions just curious if anyone used SPI black epoxy and have some pics to post. Just to gt an idea of sheen. Also curious on prep done prior to shooting. thanks

Here are some pictures of a car that belongs to the owner of the shop who is finishing our Eleanor. His car is all SPI epoxy where it is black and the hood and trunk are SPI red with SPI clear.

We will be doing this on our next car.

That's a nice looking car. I have thought about shooting my K code a black color like that until I get ready to paint it poppy. I also like the look of the car without the rear quarter glass installed, probably one of the reasons I like fastbacks, no quarter glass.
I have the numbers for a top coat that is used for commercial application that I used on my son's Bronco. It has the same look that this Mustang does. I saved the paint code, because I liked the look of it so much. I will dig numbers and brand out today and post it. If I can I will post a picture of the Bronco.
I was hoping that since it was an engine bay (plkus I was going to do underneath) that it would not get too much sunlight and would be okay. I think I will check with SPI and get their opinion
