Default how do I remove this?

It is where the temp sensor goes. My temp and fuel gauge dont work even after replacing the IVR and I would still like to drive my car so I want to just put a mech temp gauge in until I get a IVR that works. However unless I can remove this I can't install the temp gauge. it is threaded on the outside, well it was until I ruined them trying to remove it. I put plenty of penetrating oil on it but maybe it needs more time to soak.

Thanks
Justin

sounds to me like what you needed was an adapter that would screw into that and also accept the thread for whatever you are trying to fit in there...I guess its a little late for that...

Im not real sure how to remove that Im guessing someone is going to say drill it out but that would introduce shavings into the system...maybe apply heat to it from a torch could work as well.

PS im not really suggesting either of the above I guess what im doing is trying to figure out why you felt had to remove it in the first place....

Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a pipe remover for the front lawn sprinklers!!! I used that and it worked great!!!

or leave it and put a plug in it. Take your old sensor with you to match up the thread and pitch. you only need about a 3/8" bolt. If you happen to use locktite it may permit you to remove the bolt and thread adapter at the same time when your ready to address the temp sensor issue later on. Hats off, great idea on the pipe removal tool!

Try to drill it out and use a LARGE easy out. Might not work because brass is so soft. If it doesn't, you will need to drill nearly the whole thing out and then try to cave one edge in toward the middle.

How it happened doesn't matter now, the issue now is just to get the problem solved.

Is that a bushing, or is it a broken sender?

If it is a bushing, drill and tap.

And yea, some shavings will get into the cooling system, use a shop vac (with the thermostat out) to retrieve as much of the brass as possible, let the rest ride.

You can pull the manifold and get it out with a dye grinder and a carbite bit (sp?), just got to be careful not to go into the manifold. Or a plug is another option

Is any of it sticking up above the manifold? If so, you can cut a slot across the top so you can use a large screwdriver or piece of metal to unscrew it.
