Question 65 stang carb issues

Ok so I bought my wife a 65 mustang for Christmas. It is all Original with 73,000 miles. It had been garaged for 10 yrs. So... I drained the tank.. replaced the fuel pump.. Filter.. added a extra filter.. did a tune up. put in fresh gas and a new battery and started the car. It ran ok but was rough. So I rebuilt the carb. Now here is the problem im having. It does not like to run unless choked way down. What did I miss. Its a one barrel carb so there is not much there. Ive double checked the float level and all the settings are good according to the spec sheet. HELP.
TY

check for vacuum leaks if it has been sitting as long as you say the rubber hoses and carb plate gaskets are shot and leaking. also is it the autolite 1100? did you totally rebuilt it or just gaskets might need to replace the spark control valve.

if you look at the base of the carb there is a plate that the heater hoses run into there is a gasket between the intake manifold and the plate and between the plate and the carb. also check and see if the throttle shaft on the carb is tight and dont wobble that can cause a vacuum leak as well.

also for ford inline info and tech fordsix.com is a huge wealth of knowledge for the six along with upgrades you can do as well!
