Steering Box 1966 I6 and V8 same?
I've got a 1966 mustang that I'm rebuilding and swapping from a 4 lug to 5. I eventually will be putting in a borgeson unit in. But in the mean time just to roll around garage (currently on cart) I was going to put in all new suspension (manual) and just hook it up to the old manual I6 box and then eventually replace box with borgeson when dollars permit. Any issues wiht that approach. thanks
The Steering Boxes for the V8, and 6 Cylinder are the "Same" so to speak.
Manual Boxes are HCC AT in both, PS are HCC AW in both.
The HCC AX Box (GT Box) is same as the AW--But is setup Tighter at High Center with 15 Inch Pounds.

The difference is internal, the gear/ratio, what ever you call it.
The manual box HCC AT has 5 turns to turn the steering from left to right.
The "PS" Box, HCC AW has 4 turns, LESS Gear to turn fron L to R.
Think of how a rear end gear work, More turns more power, Less turns less power.
Put a 4 turn "PS" box in a manual steering car, It will turn HARD! All new Argentina Boxes are 4 turn.
