Default Paint opinions

I have a 66 vert exterior color is red, interior is black, convertible top is white. I am currently having my engine rebuilt and it will be painted ford corporate blue. The engine bay is currently painted black. I am considering having the engine bay painted the same exterior red. what is everyone's opinion on this? does anyone have pictures of a red engine bay with the ford blue engine block? or links to such pics?

Thanks.

Id leave it black this way all eyes are on the engine when you pop the hood.

If you are going for a period-correct restoration, then paint it body color. Otherwise, I find black to be much easier to maintain and avoids a lot of masking, Not having done a frame-off restoration, there are a few areas that I haven't gotten to yet. Black minimizes their appearance.

The engine bay should stay black in my opinion. Thats how it was factory. It also makes it easier to touch up later on. I use satin black.

+1 on factory black with all the benefits you mention. I thought body color was factory. Thanks for the correction. Snce my engine bay is already black, I just took a big step into factory conformance with no effort at all!!<G>

I'm gonna go against the grain of everyone else and say to have it painted the red body color.. I love the look of a smoothed out color matching bay.. But it just depends on what your plans with the car are.. If it was for show, it would be a great touch.. If more of a daily, then probably just keep it black.

I think its a matter best left up to the owner wants /likes. I've seen some really good looking engine bays in both semi-gloss black or the body color.
