Default 347 Street Build Camshaft Choice

So i am building a 347 Stroker motor which is going to be used daily driver. I need help choosing a camshaft to use. Right now my only parts i know i want to get is the AFR 185cc heads, eldebrock performer intake manifold and eldebrock 600 cfm carburetor. My goal with this motor is to get somewhere around 20 mpg and 350rwhp or more. So can anyone give me some ideas on what camshaft i should get for my motor thanks.

Hi,
Based on your intended usage, I would go with a hydraulic roller setup for low maintenance. I guess my question is why the 347, then choke it with a 600 CFM carb and seek 20 MPG. You could have accomplished what your shooting for with a 331 stroker and get better reliability. Cam events are based, in part, on your choice of gear box and rear.
Good Luck!

I've got a 331 with AFR 185 heads, Holley 600 w/ vac secondaries. The cam is a Comp Cam XE266HR, which has gross lift of .544 intake and .555 exh. LSA of 112. I get 21 mpg at 70 using a T5Z, whose 5th gear is .68. 333 torque and 314 hp, at the wheels.

That said, I'm sure I'm under cam'ed and under carb'ed. I had spec'ed this motor for AFR165 heads and the builder received the 185s instead. I said 'go ahead and install them' because I needed the motor back asap.

Hope this helps, as a perspective. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can dial you in better.

Had my 347 built by fordstrokers.com. I am also running AFR 185 heads and the shop recommended the XE274 or XE282 to me. I plan on running the XE274 personally.

I would run a different intake manifold..The performer is basically a stock type replacement manifold for a 289/302...You are now running more cubic inches and have much better flowing heads than stock. No point in choking it with the intake...If you are really concerned about gas mileage I would consult a custom cam grinder. They will also be able to help you with some other parts selections to help you reach your goals...Also keep in mind you need a total package to achieve your goal...The transmission and rear gearing will need to be tailored towards mileage at whatever speed it is you want to run at as well..
