steering problem
Turn the steering all the way to the left. Loosen the retaing nut, and with a screw driver, turn the screw clockwise just enough so that it rubs, then back off a tad. Tighten down the retaining nut.

OK,
That's one issue.
I clearly see play at the idler arm busing. I see that I can replace the bushing or get a complete idler arm apparatus.
Any reason to go with the 60 dollar assembly vs. the 10 dollar bushing?
Just replaced the shocks. certainly improved the behavior up front. Stilll pretty loose.
I'm going to go through the entire thing, but I'd like to clean up the steering as much as possible in the short term.
Any suggestions/advice?
Thanks.
BTW,
First post. I'll probably be hanging out here a lot.
I just got a '66 coupe about 6 weeks ago. Nothing special. But decent driver. 289 2v. Cambridge white/parchment. Looks good from a few feet away. Plenty to do. Cleaning up small problems right now.
My dad had a '65 that he bought new. Similar configuration. I remember when I was driving this car in the early '80s, that it had similar steering maladies.
Jim.
